RWB Kid’s Fishing Day – 2023

Our annual Red White and Blue Youth Fishing Experience was wildly successful! We had 114 children ages 9-13 who participated and received a commemorative T-shirt. A whopping 99 people volunteered to help including 65 deputies, 21 VBBFC friends and family, 8 staff of Commonwealth challenge, 2 parents, and 3 United in Him staff.

After our morning educational sessions (mentioned above) we had lunch from Zeros Subs and then we got those kids on the road to go fishing! The kids caught a total of 1,343 fish coming to 9,350 inches. The youth were divided between 3 boats/teams. Team Whaler caught 235 fish, Team Angler caught 535 fish, and Team Mariner caught 573 fish! 21 trophies were awarded, including first, second, and third place, and most unique.

Dinner partially provided by the Sheriff”s Canteen and awards followed the fishing trip and everyone went home happy!
